Kids breathwork Wollongong & Illawarra

Something is going on with your child - and you can feel it.

Maybe they're wired at bedtime and can't settle. Maybe school has them anxious in ways they can't explain. Maybe the big feelings come out of nowhere and leave everyone exhausted.

You're not imagining it and you're not alone. Kids in the Illawarra are carrying more stress than ever and most of them don't yet have the tools to do anything with it.

That's exactly what kids breathwork does.

Our monthly 9D breathwork session for children at Kora Wellness in Port Kembla gives kids aged 5–17 a gentle, immersive experience that teaches their nervous system how to find calm AND without it feeling like therapy, homework or another thing they have to get right.

They lie down, headphones on and simply breathe. Children leave feeling lighter, quieter, and often genuinely proud of themselves.

Kids breathwork Wollongong & Illawarra

A session that feels like a soft adventure.

Every detail of our Wollongong kids breathwork session is thoughtfully designed for children. Here's what a typical session looks like from arrival to wrap-up.

Arrive & Settle

Kids are welcomed into the studio and given time to get comfortable on their mat. We take a moment to check in — no pressure, just a simple question about how they're feeling today.

Headphones On, Journey Begins

Each child puts on their comfortable headphones and we begin the guided breathwork journey — a blend of gentle breathing patterns, calming music, and imaginative guided storytelling.

Gentle Return & Sharing

As the audio finishes, children have time to rest, stretch and bring their attention back to the room. There is space to share how they feel if they want to, without having to explain their experience to the group.

This session was made for your child if...

You don't need a diagnosis or a reason. Every child carries stress in their body. These are some of the children who find breathwork most transformative, though all are welcome.

  • They struggle to wind down at night
  • School anxiety or performance stress
  • Big emotional reactions that come out of nowhere
  • Difficulty with transitions or change
  • Sensitive or highly perceptive children
  • Trouble focusing or sitting still
  • Social anxiety or friendship worries
  • They just feel like they're carrying a lot
  • Curious, adventurous kids who'd love something new
  • They've been through something hard recently

What makes it different

Why 9D Breathwork goes further

Most breathwork for kids is a YouTube video or a teacher saying "take a deep breath."

9D Breathwork is something completely different and it's the only immersive kids breathwork experience available in the Illawarra.

Three elements work together to take a child's nervous system somewhere a guided breathing exercise simply can't reach:

Binaural Audio

Specially designed sound frequencies played through headphones that gently guide brainwaves into a calmer, more receptive state — naturally and safely.

Guided Breathing

A gentle breathing rhythm carried by the music — so children don't have to "try." The breath pattern is supported the whole way through.

Guided Imagination

Gentle storytelling woven into the journey gives children's busy minds something beautiful to follow — creating calm without effort or discipline.

Everything you need to know.

What age is kids breathwork suitable for?

Our kids breathwork sessions are designed for children aged 5–17. The experience is gentle, age-appropriate and carefully guided to suit developing nervous systems.

Does my child need any experience?

No experience is needed. I explain the gentle breathing and guide the children through the session, with music and storytelling to follow. Your child does not need to practise beforehand or know how to meditate.

Do parents stay during the session?

You can stay in the studio with your child, wait in the waiting area beyond the curtain, or arrange to drop them off and return at the end. Let me know what would help your child feel comfortable when you enquire, so we can agree the arrangements before their first session.

Can 9D breathwork help my child with anxiety?

Gentle breathing can give children a practical way to respond when they feel worried or tense. In a session, they have time to notice their breathing and practise slowing down with guidance. Each child responds differently; these sessions support wellbeing and do not replace care for an anxiety disorder. If worry is affecting school, sleep or everyday life, speak with your child’s GP or treating professional as well.

Is it safe? Are there any contraindications?

The children’s sessions use gentle breathing, music and guided imagination. Suitability still depends on your child’s health and needs. Before booking, tell me about any health conditions, medication, recent illness or experiences that could make breathing exercises or headphones uncomfortable. If your child has a medical condition, check with their treating health professional before attending so we can discuss any advice they give.

How often are kids sessions held?

Kids group sessions are planned monthly. Email me to check the next date, availability and how to book a place. Please wait for confirmation before making plans to attend.

What should my child bring or wear?

Comfortable clothes that your child can lie down and move in are best. Bring a water bottle, and let me know if a familiar comfort item would help them feel at ease. Mats and headphones are provided in the studio; I can confirm any other arrangements when you book.

Where is Kora Wellness and how do I book?

Kora Wellness is at 43 Wentworth Street, Port Kembla NSW 2505, with free street parking nearby. Use the enquiry button on this page to email me about the next kids group, or call 0404 470 951. Include your child’s age and any questions so I can help you arrange a place.

Where can my child do breathwork near Wollongong?

Kora Wellness offers kids group breathwork in Port Kembla, in the Wollongong area. Sessions are for children aged 5–17 and take place in the studio with guided breathing, music and headphones. Contact me for the next group date and to discuss whether the session would suit your child.

Can breathwork help kids with ADHD and sensory sensitivities?

Every child’s sensory needs are different. If your child has ADHD or finds sound, headphones or group settings difficult, tell me what they enjoy, what feels uncomfortable and what support helps them. We can discuss the session before you book and consider whether this setting is a good fit. Breathwork is offered as a wellbeing activity, not a treatment for ADHD or sensory processing difficulties.

Real sessions. Real kids.

This is what it looks like when a child feels it work.
